CoinVoice has recently learned that, according to Cointelegraph, crypto hackers have found a new way to lure victims into downloading malware that allows them to access the victim's computer, steal their wallets, or cause other significant losses.
On-chain detective Tay Monahan posted on X that hackers first impersonate recruiters from well-known crypto companies, offering targets salaries ranging from $200,000 to $350,000. This method does not entice targets to open a PDF file containing malware or download malware, but rather instructs victims to fix microphone and video access issues as per the instructions.
Malicious actors first present the interviewees with some lengthy interview questions that need to be recorded through 'Willo | Video Interviewing'. However, the victims will find that there are issues granting access to the microphone and camera, and are told they are experiencing caching issues before being informed of the 'solution' to resolve the problem.
Monahan stated that the malware provides attackers with a 'backdoor' to the victim's device and has the potential to deplete their crypto funds. [Original link]
