The shocking transfer of nearly three trillion Shiba Inu (SHIB) tokens has attracted a great deal of attention from the crypto community. Blockchain tracker Whale Alert reported the transfer of 2,884,590,622,344 SHIB tokens, worth approximately $65.7 million. The transaction originated from BTCTurk, Turkey’s second-largest centralized cryptocurrency exchange, and was sent to an unidentified wallet.
Despite much speculation surrounding the incident, BTCTurk clarified: “These transfers were fully managed by us and there was nothing unusual.”
ETH transfer sparks speculation
The SHIB activity isn’t the only notable activity from BTCTurk. Whale Alert also discovered three significant Ethereum (ETH) transactions: 23,285 ETH, 20,000 ETH, and another 20,000 ETH, with a total value of $220 million.
BTCTurk explained that these transactions were part of their "wallet optimization work." However, speculation still exists among cryptocurrency enthusiasts, with some questioning whether these transfers represent a potential security issue. BTCTurk assured users via social media that these transfers were conducted internally and in line with normal operations.
SHIB Metaverse debuts in Shibarium
Among these major moves, the Shiba Inu team achieved a major milestone by launching the SHIB Metaverse on the Shibarium blockchain. Early users can now connect their wallets, claim virtual land, and explore the various features within the virtual ecosystem.
The Metaverse offers a range of interactive opportunities, such as building houses, exploring temples, and participating in community activities. The launch highlights SHIB’s evolution beyond its memecoin origins, further solidifying its position in the digital asset space.
