As of December 28, 2024, Tetherās USDT stablecoin may be delisted from exchanges operating in the European Union (EU) due to non-compliance with the upcoming Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulations, effective from December 30, 2024.
MiCA requires stablecoin issuers to obtain approval in at least one EU member state, maintain adequate reserves, and meet transparency standards. Since Tether hasnāt secured such approval, USDTās future on EU exchanges is uncertain.
However, this development does not affect USDT trading outside the EU, so regions like Africa and other global markets remain unaffected for now.
Stay informed about the evolving regulatory landscape in your region to understand how changes like this may impact your crypto holdings. š
