Today, my daughter's kindergarten organized a visit to Yungu School founded by Jack Ma. While visiting, I noticed the BIO+ Life Science posters on the wall. I couldn't help but think of the BIO Protocol project that I recently participated in Launchpool on Binance.

The BIO project became popular when CZ and Vitalik attended the DeSci (decentralized science) entrepreneur gathering, where they discussed the BIO Protocol, a vision to build a platform that enables scientists, patients, and investors around the world to jointly fund and develop new biomedical projects. Through its blockchain network, people can participate in scientific research funding, project management, and intellectual property sharing.
At first, I felt that what these big guys were talking about seemed far away. But thinking about the fact that the iteration speed of GPT -> Ai -> Ai Agent seems to be getting faster and faster in the past two years, BIO+Ai Agent will definitely be a big explosion point in the future.
This year, the two major awards in science, physics and chemistry, were awarded to AI-related teams, especially the chemistry award was awarded to a tool project that used AI to predict protein structure. The iteration of AI applications in the medical field will be faster and faster. For example, in November 2023, the PANDA model released by the medical AI team of Alibaba Damo Academy is specifically for CT detection interpretation imaging and report generation for pancreatic cancer. Among the 20,530 real patient cases, 31 cases of missed pancreatic cancer were found. This screening information may be very fast for AI, but for the 31 missed patients, it is worth a lot of money. In the future, Ai, combined with existing detection technology and future BIO life science projects, will definitely increase the benefit of medical science to mankind.
So what role does BIO play in the middle? In short, the purpose of BIO is 1. to help scientific research teams spend too much energy on applying for funding due to funding issues. 2. to save projects that have high risk exposure and scarce resources but broad research prospects on the road to commercialization. 3. to solve the problem of resource sharing due to geographical reasons. 4. to avoid the problem of research being separated from the patient community, which leads to different incentives between scientists and patients. The core is to solve the problem of scientific research funding.
How to solve these problems? 1. First, we can use the decentralized characteristics of blockchain to decentralize funds and allow anyone to invest in promising biotechnology projects through BIO. 2. Decentralized capital costs and capital efficiency, including the pooling of resources (scientific research data, capital costs, labor, etc.), greatly reduce the innovation costs of biotechnology projects. 3. Enable scientists, researchers, patients, and investors around the world to work together on BIO's diversified platform to share and contribute to specific fields. 4. On BIO, intellectual property can be created for biotechnology, and it is extremely efficient to share ownership with intellectual property tokens.
At this point, we have to mention BIO's token economic model. According to the official introduction, before the seed round, BIO Protocol had raised $900,000 with a valuation of approximately $35 million. In the seed round, the project raised $1.4 million with a valuation of approximately $69 million. Then there was the public fundraising some time ago. The public fundraising process is the public BIO Genesis auction. It consists of 3 rounds: In Genesis Round 1, the project raised $6.2 million with a valuation of approximately $85 million. In Genesis Round 2, the project raised $18.2 million with a valuation of approximately $142 million. In Genesis Round 2.5, the project raised $3.5 million with a valuation of approximately $219 million
The maximum circulation of BIO tokens is currently 3,320,000,000, and the initial circulation when listed on Binance is 1,296,529,168 (39.05% of the total tokens). Regarding pricing, other friendly companies have given prices in pre-market transactions. As of press time, the price of BIO is $0.85 (not representative of the future Binance listing price).
As the leading project of the DeSci track selected by CZ and V, BIO is indeed worthy of being the track to focus on in the future. And there will be more high-quality projects appearing on BIO's official website to gradually improve the entire ecosystem.
