After 7749 turns, Montenegro finalizes the extradition of Do Kwon to the US

Finally, the Minister of Justice of Montenegro has signed the extradition order for Do Kwon to the US. This marks the end of a convoluted journey through courts and political disputes that have lasted over a year.

Do Kwon's lawyers had previously proposed extraditing him to South Korea, where the maximum penalty for financial crimes typically ranges from 30 to 40 years. In contrast, if he goes to the US, Do Kwon faces the risk of receiving much longer sentences.

Not only legally complex, the extradition of Do Kwon is also entangled in political scandals in Montenegro. A former Minister of Justice had accused the Prime Minister of favoring the extradition of Kwon to South Korea due to questionable financial ties with Do Kwon.
