According to a recent report by MV Global, reported by PANews on December 25, DeSci is expected to achieve significant growth by 2025, driven by practical meme coins. DeSci involves integrating blockchain technology into scientific research, aiming to radically transform the traditional scientific ecosystem by enhancing transparency, decentralization, and collaboration. The report emphasizes that while such concepts are not new, the focus and scope of these initiatives have changed. Initially, most projects concentrated on research funding through DAOs.

Notable examples include VitaDAO, HairDAO, and AxonDAO, which remain influential players in the DeSci field. However, since then, the industry has undergone significant changes, showing a trend toward diversification. The report highlights about 30 active projects with various use cases, including research funding, health data management, and open-source research programs. The report notes that this diversification reflects the increasing maturity and adaptability of the DeSci ecosystem.

The report indicates that two projects, Rifampicin and Urolithin A, have garnered significant attention, achieving market capitalizations of approximately $73 million and $59 million, respectively. These tokens were launched through the Pump.Science platform and, according to MV Global's assessment, they offer more utility than traditional meme coins. MV Global anticipates that Pump.Science will achieve large-scale expansion by 2025, expecting at least 10 projects to have market capitalizations exceeding $100 million by the end of the year.
