Odaily Planet Daily News: The cryptocurrency payment platform MoonPay has announced that it has obtained a Money Transmitter License issued by the Texas Department of Banking. As of today, Texas users can purchase 64 types of cryptocurrencies through Venmo and PayPal. Texas is the 'second largest' populated state in the U.S. after California and is a major center for Bitcoin mining. Current estimates suggest that over one-fifth of voting-age Texans own cryptocurrency. The MoonPay team added that they plan to expand services in Texas in 2025, allowing residents to sell cryptocurrencies including BTC, ETH, and SOL. MoonPay will add Venmo and PayPal (the parent company of Venmo) as payment methods in early 2024. With Texas joining, MoonPay has obtained 45 money transmitter licenses, allowing them to 'conduct business in various markets across the United States.' (Crowdfund Insider)
