According to a recent report by Chainalysis, North Korean hackers have been responsible for a staggering 61% of cryptocurrency hack damage this year, amounting to approximately $2.2 billion. The report highlights a significant increase in both the number of hacking incidents (303) and the overall damage caused, compared to the previous year. Chainalysis attributes this trend to the heightened hacking activities of North Korean cybercrime groups. Notably, 47 incidents linked to these groups have resulted in losses of $1.34 billion, representing a 103% surge from the $660 million stolen in 2021.
