On December 19, PANews reported that 'Satoshi Nakamoto' impersonator Craig Wright has once again been brought to court. This time, the Coalition of Open Patent Alliances (COPA) is debating the £900 million (approximately $1.1 billion) lawsuit Wright filed in October concerning intellectual property related to the Bitcoin system, questioning whether it constitutes contempt of court. Previously, in a ruling in March, the judge clearly prohibited him from suing regarding his claim to be Satoshi Nakamoto.

This two-day trial is expected to conclude later on Thursday, with COPA striving for the court to sentence Wright to imprisonment. The alliance has received support from various parties, including Twitter founder Jack Dorsey and cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase. In its core argument, COPA states: 'We propose that the court orders an initial sentence of 18 months imprisonment for Wright, with an additional 6 months if he fails to mitigate his contempt of court by immediately ceasing to violate court orders.' Court documents detail this content.

In March, Judge James Mellor ruled that Wright is not Satoshi Nakamoto. Subsequently, Mellor issued a court order prohibiting Wright from suing in the UK and other jurisdictions regarding this claim.
