Odaily Planet Daily News: Eric Council Jr., the hacker who invaded the U.S. SEC X account in January and released messages suggesting that the Bitcoin spot ETF has been approved, will be allowed to travel during the holidays. Judge Amy Berman Jackson recently submitted a document to the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia stating that Council can travel to North Carolina with a third-party custodian from December 23 to 29. The judge stated that Council 'must provide his exact itinerary and information regarding his accommodation to the pretrial services department at least two working days prior to travel.' (Cointelegraph) Previously, in October, it was reported that U.S. federal prosecutors planned to offer a plea deal to a man from Alabama who was accused of participating in the January hacking of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) X account and posting a false social media message about the approval of the first Bitcoin spot ETF. During a hearing in Washington federal court, a U.S. prosecutor told the judge, 'We will offer a plea deal, but we do not know if he will accept.' Reports indicate that 25-year-old Eric Council Jr. pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy, aggravated identity theft, and the fraudulent use of access devices during the hearing. Council's cooperation may help prosecutors track down his accomplices in this case. It is alleged that these accomplices used stolen personal information from an SEC employee to gain access to the agency's account.
