Wu said that according to the Dong-A Ilbo, on December 18, the South Korean prosecutors recommended to the Seoul Southern District Court that former Democratic Party member Kim Nam-guk be sentenced to six months in prison for falsifying property declarations in the National Assembly. Kim Nam-guk was accused of concealing his cryptocurrency assets of up to 9.9 billion won in 2021 and 2022 by falsifying property declarations, partially converting virtual currencies into bank deposits to adjust the total amount of property, and continuing to keep the rest in the form of cryptocurrency. The prosecutor pointed out that this act was intended to hinder the property review of the National Assembly Civil Service Ethics Committee and was due to his purpose of "not declaring the cryptocurrency he held." The case is still under trial.
