Bitcoin ETF surpasses Gold ETF in assets under management
According to Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas, Bitcoin ETFs have the potential to outpace Gold ETFs in total assets under management (AUM) within less than two years. This is based on the fact that Bitcoin ETFs have attracted nearly $5 billion in net new assets since their launch in early January 2024, while Gold ETFs have seen outflows of $3.6 billion during the same period. Although it is uncertain whether the entire capital from Gold ETFs will shift to Bitcoin ETFs, the emergence and significant interest in Bitcoin ETFs has created strong competition with gold. In fact, just after 6 weeks of operation, Bitcoin ETFs have accumulated more assets than Gold ETFs by over $8 billion, and the asset amount is more than 40% compared to Gold ETFs. Another report indicates that Bitcoin ETFs have outperformed Gold ETFs with a return of 65% since being approved in January 2024.
