A scammer from the United States, posing as an Uber driver, stole cryptocurrency worth $300,000 from two clients.
The perpetrator disguised himself as a driver, waiting for his victims outside the W hotel and addressing them by name. In the first case, he asked to borrow a passenger's phone, claiming that his own device was damaged. In the second case, he offered assistance in solving a problem with the Uber app, as it showed that the driver had not arrived.
Court documents do not specify how the scammer learned the names of the passengers, but it is reported that he threatened one of the victims who suspected him of dishonest actions.
