The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is on its way to becoming a global hub for blockchain and crypto innovation. Key trends include Sharia-compliant services, dirham-backed stablecoins, and international talent migration.

At Bitcoin MENA and Abu Dhabi Finance Week, crypto professionals discussed the trends shaping the future of the industry in the Middle East. Executives from firms such as Blockdaemon, Core DAO, and MatterFi said the UAE’s regulatory clarity and talent attraction capacity are a “springboard” for projects.

Sharia-compliant crypto services, especially decentralized finance (DeFi), are creating significant demand. This alignment opens up new possibilities in the Islamic world.

Dirham-backed stablecoins could strengthen the UAE’s local payments infrastructure. However, it may take time for Bitcoin to be accepted as legal tender. The UAE is an example of how innovation should work.
