Bitcoin Taxes in Ukraine

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has almost completed work on the updated draft law on the regulation and taxation of virtual assets, announced the head of the tax committee, Daniil Hetmantsev.

The document will be presented in the first quarter of 2025. The main change was the rejection of the possibility of preferential taxation of cryptocurrency operations. The previously proposed document authored by the Ministry of Digital Transformation envisioned a preferential tax with a gradual increase in rates—from 5% to 18%.

The withdrawal of assets into fiat is proposed to be taxed similarly to securities.

"In consultations with European experts and the IMF, we are very cautious about the use of cryptocurrencies under tax benefits, as a potential means of tax evasion in traditional markets," explained Hetmantsev.

Until the bill is passed, tax is levied on the entire amount of sold cryptocurrency according to the general principles of taxation in the country. $BTC
