On the Gnosis governance forum, Gnosis Chain co-founder Martin Köppelmann put forward a proposal to let GNO be discussed within the system on Gnosis Chain.
In this way, Gnosis Chain’s dependence on the outside world can be reduced, thereby enhancing its flexibility and security.
For this reason, Köppelmann proposed a series of reasons: First, GNO was originally minted on Ethereum, so it is naturally native on Ethereum;
Secondly, GNO on Gnosis Chain is implemented through cross-chain bridge contracts.
However, there are risks in this cross-chain bridge. At the same time, GnosisDAO cannot force the destruction of the total supply of GNO on Ethereum through code;
Additionally, GNO minted on the Gnosis beacon chain cannot be minted on Ethereum.
To sum up, Köppelmann suggested moving GNO’s issuance structure from the Ethereum platform to the Gnosis Chain platform to reduce its dependence on cross-chain bridges and solve the above problems.
In this way, Gnosis Chain can enhance its own resilience and security, improving its position in the cryptocurrency market.
