U.S. Senator Cynthia Lummis and incoming Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent just held an important meeting to discuss the Bitcoin reserve strategy that concerns us!
Senator Lummis expressed her optimism on social media X regarding Bessent's potential support for digital assets, especially Bitcoin.
This meeting took place shortly after President Trump rang the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange. In an interview, Trump emphasized the need for decisive action in the cryptocurrency field, stating that the U.S. must not allow China or any other country to get ahead.
Senator Lummis also expressed her position, stating her willingness to help President Trump achieve this goal, and mentioned on social media, "I am ready to help you achieve this goal."
Additionally, Senator Lummis proposed a bill in July to utilize existing government funds to purchase 1 million Bitcoins. This bill initially garnered support from Republicans, but now Democratic Representative Ro Khanna has also expressed support, advocating for the U.S. to hold its confiscated Bitcoins as strategic reserve assets.
If Bitcoin begins to be widely used at the national level, it could trigger a global digital asset boom, similar to the past gold rush, which may lead to diminished interest in traditional assets like physical gold.
At the same time, U.S. policymakers may view Bitcoin as a strategic asset to counter other countries, such as China and Russia, which are reducing their dependence on the dollar and increasing their investments in precious metals like gold.
