🔥 USDT Transfer Loss of $26,800: A Painful Lesson in Cryptocurrency

A month ago, my friend suffered a huge loss while transferring USDT—an astonishing $26,800! This incident has alerted all cryptocurrency players: in this uncertain market, every small detail cannot be ignored.

The Erroneous Transfer

The story began like this:
My friend intended to transfer $25,500 USDT from KuCoin to a business partner's OKX wallet. The partner provided an ERC20 network address, and he thought everything was going smoothly. However, during the operation, he accidentally selected the Polygon network without realizing it. After confirming with one click, the money was deducted from his account, but the recipient's wallet did not receive any funds.

No matter how hard he tried to recover it, he ultimately failed because the OKX wallet does not support deposits on the Polygon network. This meant that the USDT was essentially “lost,” and the loss was irretrievable.

1. Network Mismatch: The target address should have used the ERC20 network, but the funds were sent to the Polygon network, leading to a failed transaction.
2. Irreversible Transfer: Unlike bank remittances, once a cryptocurrency transfer is confirmed, it cannot be canceled or reversed; the error must be borne by the sender.

How to Avoid Making the Same Mistake?
1. Verify Wallet Address: Ensure that the receiving address matches the specified network completely; do not be careless.
2. Ensure Network Compatibility: Before transferring, confirm that the selected network is compatible with the recipient's network to avoid losses due to unsupported networks.
3. Test with Small Amount Before Large Transfers: First, send a small amount for testing; only proceed with large transfers after ensuring everything is correct.
