AI platform developer SingularityNET and the governing body behind the Filecoin network, the Filecoin Foundation, announced a partnership.

This collaboration aims to integrate artificial intelligence and decentralized physical infrastructure networks (DePIN) while maintaining decentralization, AI ethics, and data sources.

According to the official press release shared with Cointelegraph, this partnership will also establish an AI ethics working group to ensure that the development and deployment of AI adhere to ethical standards.

Ben Goertzel, founder and CEO of SingularityNET and co-founder of the Artificial Superintelligence Alliance, stated in a written Q&A with Cointelegraph:

Artificial intelligence ethics involves many aspects, including minimizing unhealthy biases in AI models, guiding AI towards beneficial applications, and reducing the likelihood of negative consequences arising from breakthroughs to superintelligence, among others.

This collaboration has several goals across different timelines, with some being short-term, such as SingularityNET using Filecoin's Lighthouse SDK for metadata storage.

Mid-term goals include integrating Filecoin's technology stack into SingularityNET to enhance security and support the infrastructure for AI-generated data storage.

In the long run, this collaboration aims to use Filecoin to manage the knowledge graph, which is a key element of the SingularityNET knowledge layer initiative.

When discussing the partnership, Goertzel confirmed that the Artificial Superintelligence Alliance (ASI) tokens and Filecoin tokens will be used. When asked if Filecoin would join ASI, he said:

In the world of crypto, anything is possible, but for now, we do not want to make any specific statements.

Development of DePIN

The Filecoin network is supported by the Filecoin Foundation in governance, funding, and development, essentially being a DePIN project specifically designed for cloud storage.

Filecoin's decentralized storage system will gain AI service integration from SingularityNET, and vice versa, thus creating an interoperable and collaborative ecosystem for both companies.

This collaboration aims to enhance its advantages by demonstrating the practical applications and potential industry impact of DePIN.

It only takes one step to approach AI, and two steps to approach AGI.

SingularityNET, Fetch.ai, and Ocean Protocol are part of the ASI token merger.

Although the merger has been postponed, Goertzel stated in an interview with Cointelegraph that superintelligence 'is only a few years away' from realization.

In the interview, Goertzel explained that the long-term goal is to create superintelligence on 'decentralized infrastructure'.

After merging with two peer AI development companies, SingularityNET continues to expand its collaborative goals with its latest partnership with the Filecoin Foundation.
