Stanislav Moiseev, founder of the notorious darknet marketplace Hydra, has been sentenced to life in prison by a Russian court. Hydra, which dominated 80% of darknet crypto transactions in 2021, facilitated over $5 billion in illegal trades, including drugs and counterfeit documents. Moiseev's 15 accomplices received sentences ranging from 8 to 23 years, with fines totaling $152,400. The court also ordered the seizure of properties and vehicles linked to the crimes. Hydra was dismantled by German authorities in 2022, marking a significant blow to darknet operations.
