iPhone users are anticipating the arrival of Apple's iOS 18.2 operating system for its smartphones in the coming weeks, which is expected to introduce the Image Playground feature, a tool for designing images via text commands, as part of the company's artificial intelligence features, Apple Intelligence.
The new smart feature is a set of AI-powered tools from Apple that allows users to enter text commands into the AI tool, which uses it to create cartoon-style images based on the entered text.
Users can design images through many tools within the Image Playground application, as they can write a text command to design the image, or choose a text description from the suggested commands, in addition to the user being able to upload his own image at first, to begin modifying and developing it to come up with the expected design.
The application also allows the user to choose between three design styles: Sketch, Animation, and Illustration.
The update also allows designing images within various applications, such as Messages, FreeForm, Keynote, and Pages, and Apple also allows developers to include these capabilities within their applications available through its App Store.
Image Playground can be accessed through a dedicated image creation app or via the messaging app by tapping the (+) button to the left of the text box.
The Image Playground app is available on the home screen, and the app icon is expected to resemble a white cat or fox (or perhaps another furry creature; there's no full confirmation on that).
Image design using Image Playground
Using Image Playground seems fairly easy, as there is a text input area where the user can write a text description of the image they want to create, such as “Dog blowing out birthday candles on a cake,” but in English.
If the result is not what the user wants, he can edit the description to get more accurate results, or choose one of the recommendations provided by Apple. Several options for images will appear so that he can scroll through them and choose the most appropriate one.
The user can also upload a photo of themselves, a friend, or their pet to get an AI-generated image, adding elements such as a party hat or a beach background, and they can also change the art style used in the image.
Image Playground release date
Image Playground is part of the public beta of iOS 18.2. Anyone enrolled in Apple’s beta program can access it. It’s expected to be officially released to the general public in December.
