Odaily Planet Daily News Coinbase Chief Policy Officer Faryar Shirzad expects that once Trump takes office, the U.S. will quickly regulate the cryptocurrency industry, and cryptocurrency legislation will be passed in Congress "quite soon." The Republican Party also controls the House of Representatives and the Senate, and Shirzad stated that this should make the process of approving cryptocurrency laws smoother. Recently, at an event organized by the UK branch of Stand With Crypto, Shirzad said: "We have the most pro-cryptocurrency Congress in history, and we have a president who is particularly supportive of cryptocurrency taking office. I believe this combination should ultimately allow the interests and voices of the 50 million Americans who own cryptocurrency to be heard in policy." His remarks come as two key pieces of cryptocurrency-related legislation are under consideration in Congress. One is the (21st Century Financial Innovation and Technology Act), initiated by Republicans, aimed at establishing a legal framework for digital assets. This bill passed the House earlier this year. The other is the (Stablecoin Innovation and Protection Act), which aims to establish a regulatory framework to issue licenses to stablecoin issuers; this bill has not yet passed a House vote. Shirzad expressed that he is "optimistic" that the bill will be passed, but he noted that the likelihood of cryptocurrency legislation being considered in the so-called "lame duck" period after the election is "very small." Even if Congress does not pass the cryptocurrency law this year, Shirzad expects that by 2025, "significant progress will be made on market structure legislation and stablecoin legislation, and they are expected to pass."
