Pump.fun, a decentralized memecoin launchpad platform that once stood at the forefront of simplifying crypto creation, has hit a major stumbling block. The platform’s foray into live-streaming content, initially designed to engage and attract users, ultimately took a dark turn.

The platform faced an overwhelming backlash that was impossible to ignore. This comes as the streams were flooded with disturbing content, including explicit material, violence, and death, making it impossible to ignore. Amid growing calls for its shutdown, Pump.fun finally pulled the plug on its live-stream function, but the fallout was immediate and severe.

Pump.fun Sees A Sharp Decline in User Activity

The immediate consequence of the livestream suspension has been a sharp decline in user engagement.

According to data from Dune Analytics, the number of addresses creating new tokens fell by 50%. The platform saw an influx of 37,134 token creators slashed in half to just 14,952 in 24 hours. This loss of activity is hitting Pump.fun hard, especially in terms of its revenue from fees.

Previously, the platform enjoyed steady daily fee revenues of over $2 million, with a peak of $14.35 million in November. 23.

However, by November. 28, those figures took a dramatic turn, dipping under $2 million for the first time in nearly two weeks. This revenue plunge directly results from the falling user engagement and the steep drop in new token creators.

Pump.fun’s Livestream Shutdown Takes a Heavy Toll

The livestream feature had become central to the platform’s success, and its removal has left a void. In November. 27, active users peaked at 282,560, while new users hit 152,358. However, by November 28, those numbers had plummeted.

Active users on the platform have dropped by 69.4%, falling to 86,245, and new users decreased by 76.5%, down to just 35,711. Even trading volumes took a massive hit, sinking by over 60%. Daily transactions fell from 3.27 million to 1.29 million, dragging total volumes from $283.62 million to $103.31 million.

The Future of Pump.fun: Can It Recover?

With the livestream feature now suspended, many are speculating what the future holds for Pump.fun.

The platform’s decline in user activity suggests that the livestream was not just a side feature but a core driver of engagement. Some believe the team may reinstate live streaming once they improve content moderation controls. However, whether the platform can recover from this setback remains uncertain.

One thing is clear: Pump.fun now faces a significant challenge. It is still being determined whether or not it can regain its footing without the controversial livestream feature. The next few weeks will reveal if it can maintain its position in the competitive world of crypto-based platforms.
