IT Home reported on November 30 that Musk's X platform has always been full of accounts imitating real public figures, including politicians, athletes, artists, etc. Although some accounts indicate "parody" in their display names and others indicate it in their personal profiles, many people still mistakenly believe that they are real accounts.

On the 29th local time, TechCrunch quoted the application's reverse engineer as saying that the X platform is considering launching a new label to mark those spoof or fan comment accounts to help users more easily identify these accounts as spoofs.

If the labels are officially launched and parody accounts adopt them, users will be able to see the parody account label on the corresponding account's profile page and posts. This will make it more difficult for users to confuse the content of parody accounts with the accounts of real people.

One of the biggest challenges facing the platform may be forcing parody accounts to voluntarily use this tag in their profiles. Currently, X's authenticity policy already has provisions for parody accounts, requiring them not to impersonate others and spread false information.

"We only allow compliant parody, commentary and fan accounts on Platform X, provided their purpose is to discuss, satirize or share information," the policy states.

If the new label is introduced, Platform X will also need to formulate a policy to clarify whether satirical accounts also need to use the label. If a large number of spoof accounts do not use the label, users may still be confused.
