A former top executive at Binance, a big cryptocurrency company, is saying that they were fired unfairly after they told their bosses about something not right happening at work. The person, named Amrita Srivastava, said that a coworker asked for extra money from a customer in exchange for helping them quickly get set up to use Binance’s services.
The coworker said this wasn’t really about giving advice, but secretly trying to get more money. Amrita joined Binance in 2022 after working at Mastercard, and she really thought Binance was trying to follow all the rules. But she found out that things were not as good as she thought, and her team was under a lot of pressure to make deals.
Binance says that Amrita was fired because she wasn’t doing a good job, and that they already knew about the problem with the coworker and were looking into it. But Amrita says that she was fired because she told her bosses about what was happening, which is not the right thing to do. If Amrita’s story is true and the court agrees with her, Binance could have to pay a lot of money because of the trouble she had after reporting what was going on.
Amrita thinks that her time at Binance hurt her job and her reputation, and fixing this will take a long time.
