The game, developed by Gunzilla Games, is a free-to-play, Web3-enabled, third-person battle royale game which also won awards for Best Shooter Game, Best Multiplayer Game, and Best Action Game. The GAM3 Awards celebrated achievements in 21 categories, showcasing the progress of the Web3 gaming sector.
The event had a prize pool of $5 million from partners like AWS, XAI, Thirdweb, Aethir, and Community Gaming. The selection process involved over 70 jurors from gaming and blockchain organizations, with over one million votes from 143,000 unique voters contributing to the final decisions. The game’s success shows the growing integration of blockchain technology in gaming.
Off The Grid’s early access release saw rapid growth, topping Epic Games’ free-to-play PC games list, surpassing popular titles like Fortnite and Rocket League, and accumulating 53 million transactions in its first five days. The GAM3 Awards attracted over 300 in-person attendees and had a peak viewership of 48,000 concurrent viewers.
Analysts speculate that Off The Grid could be a catalyst for a new crypto gaming bull run. The event is expected to return in November 2025 for its fourth consecutive edition.
