ChainCatcher news, according to the Governor of the National Bank of Rwanda (NBR) John Rwangomba, Rwanda is preparing to implement regulations regarding the use and trading of cryptocurrency. Rwangomba expects the regulations to be established in the first quarter of 2025, provided that NBR reaches an agreement with the Capital Market Authority (CMA).
This disclosure is in response to a legislator's inquiry about the central bank's position on Bitcoin. While Rwangomba's response did not explicitly support cryptocurrency, it marks a shift from NBR's previous public statements.
