Tonight, another thousand-fold golden dog appeared again; after waking up from a nap, I missed another hundred-fold. I wonder if you have experienced this, where golden dogs always sneak in when you're not around, and by the time you react, the market value has already exceeded eight digits. So, when are golden dogs most active? Is it necessary to be online during this period to have a chance? Odaily will review this in this article.
When do golden dogs appear?
We first take tokens from Pump.fun that are ranked in the top one thousand by market capitalization as our research subjects, and obtain the token creation time points as follows. Among them, 'creation time point 0' means that the creation time of the token is from midnight to 1 AM Taipei time, and so on. It can be clearly seen from this chart that after 9 PM, the frequency of golden dogs jumps from 2% to 4% and continues to rise, reaching a peak between 3 AM and 6 AM, then dropping back to 2% - 3% in the morning.
To verify whether this pattern is correct, we expanded our research subjects to include tokens ranked in the top 200 and top 2000 by market capitalization. To provide a more intuitive representation, we added a bar graph as shown below. It can be seen that for tokens in the top 2000 by market capitalization, the frequency of golden dogs also begins to rise significantly after 9 PM, and there is also a significant advantage between 3 AM and 6 AM.
Is there still a chance if you miss the night?
For most users, being active during midnight is difficult. So, if you miss the first wave at midnight, is there no chance left? The author has compiled the intervals from creation to the first peak for the top 20 tokens, and the results are shown in the diagram below. On average, it takes 52.7 hours to ferment to the first peak, while reaching the current top 20 status takes an average of 58.7 days, indicating that even if you miss the opening, there is still plenty of time to get in.
Data source
Pump market capitalization rankings can be obtained through the Pump frontend API, which includes token address, symbol, creation and end time information. The top tokens can be accessed via this API. According to the author's tests, tokens ranked in the top 2050 by market capitalization can be obtained.
For tokens not in the ranking, the creation time can be queried through the frontend API. The last transaction of this API is the first purchase transaction by the developer, which can be used to obtain the creation time of the token.
