El Salvador’s President, Nayib Bukele, suggested a new program called “Rent a Volcano” for Bitcoin mining operations. The country has 170 volcanoes and uses geothermal energy from them to mine Bitcoin. So far, El Salvador has mined 474 bitcoins using geothermal energy and has 5,944.77 bitcoins in their treasury.
They also have a project called Bitcoin City, which will be powered by geothermal energy. This shows El Salvador’s commitment to using renewable energy and cryptocurrency together.
