Bitcoin financial services company Swan Bitcoin has sued the law firm Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher for hiring a lawyer who represents the stablecoin issuer and competitor cryptocurrency company Tether. Swan filed the lawsuit against Gibson in California Superior Court on November 22, alleging legal malpractice, claiming it "solicited and won Swan," allowing it to represent Swan against "former partner turned adversary" Tether, after which the law firm "accepted Tether as a client and told Swan to get lost." Swan claims that a lawyer from Gibson called the firm’s CEO Cory Klippsten, warning that Swan needed to find other lawyers because the firm hired lawyer Barry Berke, who represents Tether, which could present a conflict of interest.
