【Instagram Famous Squirrel Owner Fiercely Attacks PNUT Holders, Launches New Meme Coin】
Mark Longo, the owner of the well-known pet squirrel Peanut, announced in a now-deleted X post that he plans to sue PNUT holders for copyright infringement and has launched a meme coin "JUSTICE" in protest.
The incident originated when Longo was accused of illegally keeping wild animals, leading New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) officials to raid his home on October 30, taking his pet squirrel Peanut and raccoon Fred. On November 1, concerns over rabies arose after Peanut bit an officer, leading to both animals being humanely euthanized. Subsequent tests showed they were not infected with rabies, sparking public debate.
The incident further escalated when Elon Musk voiced support for Peanut on X, inspiring the crypto community to launch the meme coin PNUT based on Peanut's popularity. After the token was listed, its price soared but quickly fell back, facing criticism as a "pump and dump" meme coin scam.
Longo expressed strong dissatisfaction with the PNUT community profiting from his pet's story without permission and launched a token called JUSTICE. After JUSTICE was listed, it attracted market attention, reaching a market value of $13 million, with its price skyrocketing 50,000% within 24 hours, showing investors' enthusiasm for this new project. This incident reflects the high risks and high speculation in the meme coin market.
