Chirp, a decentralized communications network running on the Sui blockchain, has unveiled its play-to-earn (P2E) game, Kaji.
Kaji is announced as the first DePIN (Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Network) game for play-to-earn, where entertainment, rewards, and real-world utility meet.
Chirp turns smartphones into cryptocurrency mining devices
With Kaji, Chirp invites players to explore their surroundings by discovering wireless networks such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and cell towers using their smartphones. These activities engage players in a gamified gaming experience while rewarding them with Chirp Coins, the native cryptocurrency of the Chirp ecosystem.
Players will earn Chirp coins as soon as they start playing and will be able to claim them after the next Token Generation Event (TGE).
“It’s not just about earning Chirp coins; it’s about participating in building the technology of the future. Your gaming experience helps expand the Chirp IoT ecosystem, collecting data to create innovative geolocation solutions for everyday life and businesses,” said one X user.
Based on the game mechanics, the number of signals detected is directly proportional to the accumulated data chips. This places them higher on the leaderboard and increases their rewards in Chirp coins.
As an added bonus, Kaji features a Pokémon Go-style treasure hunt called Chronos Wings. With this campaign, players can hunt for Bluetooth-enabled physical items and NFTs, unlocking exclusive perks and rewards.
Unlike traditional P2E games, Kaji has a broader purpose. By participating, players contribute to Chirp’s geolocation database, which powers its IoT ecosystem. This database provides vital solutions for industries that need low-power geolocation and indoor navigation — areas where GPS struggles. Applications span the logistics, urban planning, and retail sectors.
“Kaji is not just a game — it’s a creative way for Chirp to enhance our community-powered IoT network, and we couldn’t have found a better home for it than the next generation of Sui — the fastest and most secure blockchain in the entire Web3 space. We have ambitious plans for Chirp, and both Sui and Kaji are a big part of that,” said Tim Kravshonowski, CEO and founder of Chirp.
Integration with Chirp's expanding ecosystem
Kagi seamlessly integrates into the Chirp decentralized communications ecosystem, known for providing innovative connectivity and data solutions for the Internet of Things. It builds on the momentum from Chirp’s second anniversary announcement in October when the company first hinted at its vision for the future of P2E gaming.
Four months ago, Chirp hinted at its transformative potential during a free drop campaign, allowing users to secure tokens ahead of the official launch. The campaign generated buzz, boosting the Chirp community and preparing its ecosystem for the game’s emergence.
Android users will be the first to try Kage by signing up on the Chirp platform and connecting their Sui wallets. With CHIRP becoming the center of operations for Chirp, it promises to redefine DePIN gaming and IoT applications.
Despite its innovation, Kage is entering an already competitive market. P2E games, especially those on the TON (The Open Network) blockchain, which take advantage of Telegram’s large user base, are challenging. Many projects are using Telegram’s easy accessibility to attract players, offering built-in ways to earn cryptocurrency while focusing on community engagement.
These games already have significant traction, which Chirp must address to secure its foothold. While Chirp has made significant strides with Kage, its success will depend on the platform’s ability to maintain engagement, outpace competitors, and deliver value to its growing community.
However, Chirp has ambitious plans to expand the Kage experience globally, starting with Europe and moving into other regions. Its real-world treasure hunting and mapping features put it in a unique position, combining physical exploration with blockchain-based incentives.
