ZK Technology Based on Hash Can Resist Quantum Ethereum

Zero-Knowledge (ZK) technology based on hash functions is being regarded as the most user-friendly solution to protect Ethereum from attacks by quantum computers. According to research by Dr. XinXin Fan, head of the cryptography department at IoTeX and co-author, the use of Zero-Knowledge proofs like ZK-Stark can be attached to each transaction, providing a high level of security. Current digital signature algorithms, such as ECDSA, are vulnerable to quantum computers, but adding ZK proofs helps mitigate this weakness without requiring users to change their cryptocurrency wallets.

This is crucial in the context of NIST recommending that organizations adopt quantum-resistant measures before 2035. Although quantum computers currently cannot break modern encryption standards such as 2048-4096 bit keys, preparing for the future is necessary to ensure the safety of blockchain systems.
