According to Crypto Briefing, Mark Uyeda, a member of the U.S. SEC, advocated the establishment of safe harbors and regulatory sandboxes to promote cryptocurrency innovation in an interview. Uyeda is a potential candidate for the chairman of the U.S. SEC under the Trump administration. He stressed the need to end Trump's so-called "cryptocurrency war" and develop clearer regulatory guidelines. Uyeda said: "Many crypto assets are not securities, but they are labeled as securities." He emphasized the importance of cooperation between Congress, the White House and regulators to establish a comprehensive framework for the industry. When asked if he might be appointed chairman of the SEC, Uyeda replied: "This is Trump's decision." He also pointed out that the next chairman needs to address regulatory challenges across multiple executive agencies. Other potential candidates for the position include Teresa Goody Guillen of BakerHostetler, Robert Stebbins of Willkie Farr & Gallagher, and former SEC Commissioner Paul Atkins.
