The Chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Gery Gensler announced plans to resign on January 20, 2025, however, the new nominee for the Chairman of the SEC will face scrutiny from the U.S. Senate, as all commission members must be confirmed by the Senate.
