Charles Hoskinson, founder and a prominent figure in the blockchain world, joined the discussion. Hoskinson stated that he supports the creation of the position of “Head of Crypto” and nominated Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong as a candidate for the position.
Hoskinson stressed in his public statement that impartiality and expertise were critical for such a role. He said:
“Regarding the idea of a Crypto President in the White House, I think that position needs to be filled by a neutral person, someone who can collaborate with all the protocols and has a deep understanding of why crypto is special and what the Biden administration is doing wrong.”
Hoskinson cited Armstrong’s experience at Coinbase, where he faced regulatory hurdles from the U.S. government, as evidence of his suitability for the position:
“The only candidate that stands out for this role in this industry is Brian Armstrong. Coinbase has been a pillar of crypto and has fought against government-enforced regulation.”
Hoskinson also stated that the industry should unite for a comprehensive legal reform in cooperation with the US government. He announced that he will go to Washington to meet with lawmakers and launch a new project aimed at examining the American cryptocurrency sector:
“I’m flying to Washington today and in January I’ll be starting a project with IO Policy called Operation Baseline to investigate the American cryptocurrency industry and identify waste, abuse, and missed opportunities.”
Hoskinson said he sees this potential crypto role in the White House as a significant turning point for the industry:
“The president’s goal is to make America the best place in the world for crypto and blockchain. To achieve this, all the players in the industry need to come together.”
