NYSE Owner Considers Launching Bitcoin Exchange
The owner of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) is considering the possibility of launching trading in Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies amid growing regulatory clarity. NYSE President Lynn Martin stressed that the development will depend on clear regulations from U.S. regulators. She said that the surge in investment in Bitcoin ETFs is a “strong signal” of demand for regulated financial products related to cryptocurrencies, and that investment funds are increasingly paying attention to the potential of the cryptocurrency market.
She also mentioned that integrating cryptocurrency products into traditional exchanges could help improve transparency and efficiency in financial transactions, which is all the more necessary as traditional financial markets and digital assets become more closely connected. However, the lack of a regulatory framework remains a major obstacle to this development, causing the NYSE and other exchanges to be cautious before making final decisions.
