Norwegian Expert Committee: Norway is not in a hurry to launch CBDC, and recommends starting CBDC-related regulatory reforms

According to Bloomberg, an expert committee advising Norwegian politicians said that although the country has one of the lowest cash usage rates in the world, it is not in a hurry to adopt a central bank-issued digital currency (CBDC). The committee believes that cash remains important in ensuring safe and simple payments for everyone. Nevertheless, it suggests that "necessary regulatory reforms" should be initiated so that CBDC may be introduced in the future.
