The Korea Automobile Importers and Distributors Association (KAIDA) reported on the 10th that South Korea's imported diesel vehicle sales are expected to fall below 10,000 units for the first time in 17 years, with an annual market share of only about 3%, marking a nearly 20-year low. Data shows that in October, 643 imported diesel vehicles were sold in the South Korean market, a year-on-year decrease of 58.7%. Sales for the first 10 months of this year totaled 6,740 units, a sharp decline of 65.1%. At this rate, imported diesel vehicle sales will drop below 10,000 units for the first time in 17 years. The proportion of diesel vehicles in imported vehicle sales has also significantly decreased, with a cumulative sales share of 3.1% for the first 10 months, and the sales share in October (3%) even lower than that of plug-in hybrid vehicles (4.1%). It is expected that the annual sales share will hit a new low since 2004.
