The mainstream thinking is to invest at the bottom and then start selling after a rally.
But some friends have a different approach; they choose to short early during the rally, not wanting to profit from the rise. Instead, they gamble with their account funds, hoping the market won't wipe them out...
The top institutional thinking is actually to invest at the bottom and then start gradually selling off once the position reaches a certain high point. They keep selling until there are clear signals of a rapid peak.
Top traders, on the other hand, will only start to slowly build their short positions after this...
So shorting is not scary; what is scary is completely ignoring the market signals and just relying on subjective assumptions.
