IA Brasil

With an annual revenue of almost R$5.5 billion, Porto Digital has partnered with the National School of Public Administration (Enap), in Brasília, to drive public policies and increase administrative efficiency using AI.

The first step will be the creation of the Artificial Intelligence Projects and Products Innovation Laboratory (LIIA). According to those involved, the initial investment will be R$8 million.

Project should raise more than R$20 million by 2029

In addition, the next steps of the partnership include a goal to raise an additional R$21.7 million by 2029. All of this will be used to develop around 50 AI initiatives over the next five years in Brazil. The projects should highlight solutions that improve decision-making through big data, predictive analytics, and more.

For the president of Porto Digital, Pierre Lucena, artificial intelligence can help government management on several fronts, such as improving productivity.

There are millions of possibilities for improvements that can be worked on within this laboratory with products to be made within it, Lucena told Agência Brasil.

We will be able to have a structure dedicated to solving digital problems. It will be a very interesting movement in the government that will help it get closer to the population, adds the president of Enap, Betânia Lemos.

Brazil wants to be a global reference in public management with AI

The partnership is part of the Brazilian Artificial Intelligence Plan (PBIA), to consolidate the country as a global reference in innovation and efficiency in the application of AI in the public sector.

Located in Recife, Porto Digital is the largest innovation center in Latin America. It currently has more than 415 companies and 18,000 professionals, and is considered a strategic pillar for the development of these AI projects in Brazil.
