According to Wu Shuo, as reported by Sing Tao Daily, two investors claimed that after attending an online influencer Lin Zuo's seminar last year, they believed JPEX was a licensed and trustworthy platform to open an account and invest in Tether. Later, the two discovered that assets in their accounts were transferred without authorization. In mid-year, they filed a lawsuit in the district court seeking to recover 247,000 Tether or 1.85 million Hong Kong dollars from JPEX's Hong Kong and Macau registered company and related parties. The judge accepted that cryptocurrency is considered property, and the plaintiffs' case was strong and compelling, ruling that both parties were in a trust relationship. The second defendant, as the trustee, violated their responsibilities by transferring the plaintiffs' cryptocurrency from their accounts without authorization.
