With the open web just around the corner, we’re excited to announce the second PiFest, an exciting new iteration of our community-driven events designed to increase Pi’s utility and support local merchants. Building on the success of past PiFest in December, this event will once again highlight the practical use of Pi in everyday transactions, with a powerful new dimension: the event will be hosted by the Pi Commerce Hackathon award-winning app, Pi Maps!
Merchant registration and preparation begins on Thursday, October 24, 2024, with the Pioneer Shopping Period lasting from Tuesday, October 29, to Tuesday, November 5, 2024. All members of the Pi Network community can participate by finding and visiting local Pi-Powered businesses, making purchases, and sharing their experiences on the Fireside Forum and social media.
About PiFest and Pi Map
PiFest is a community-driven event designed to support and promote the integration of Pi in local commerce, connecting merchants with Pioneer shoppers and celebrating their local experiences in the Fireside Forum and social media.
PiFest was created in part out of the strong interest shown by pioneers in using Pi in local businesses. This interest is reflected in the wide participation in the first PiFest in December 2023. However, one challenge often mentioned among pioneers is the lack of discoverability of businesses accepting Pi.
However, keep in mind that this is the first large-scale Pi global community event running on a community-built application, with its own post-launch support. Pioneers should expect potential ongoing feature and user experience hiccups. How will PiFest work this year?
Explore and discover
Pi for Maps enables pioneer merchants (people who accept Pi or otherwise incorporate Pi into their business) to list their businesses, products, and services and become pioneers in their local communities.
Pioneers can use Maps Pi to find nearby Pi-powered merchants through the map or search function and can add reviews about their shopping experiences. Please note that the actual shopping and transactions occur in the local store, not in the Map of Pi app. The app focuses on helping Pioneers discover local Pi-powered businesses.
Visit and trade
Pioneers then visit the local store they find and use the Pi QR code feature in the Pi wallet, which facilitates their transactions on the Pi mainnet blockchain.
Together, these elements are designed to support the full cycle of Pi-driven commerce and create a blueprint for Pi integration at the intersection of Web3 and commerce.

PiFest aims to promote the use and integration of Pi in local commerce, leveraging innovative solutions co-developed by Pioneer developers during the Pi Commerce Hackathon. Utility construction is a key goal during the closed mainnet period and beyond, and PiFest is at the core of bringing together pioneers and businesspeople to have fun while contributing to this effort.
Post and share!
PiFest is an opportunity for the pioneering community and the rest of the world to showcase and celebrate the local business potential of Pi.
Therefore, merchants and Pioneer shoppers are encouraged to share photos and stories about their PiFest experience on the Fireside Forum’s#PiFestchannel and on social media! Your Fireside Forum posts may even be available on Pi's Social Media account, where you can gain access to millions of followers if you participate in various Merchant and Pioneer challenges when creating posts.
