Ethereum developers held the first all-core developer (ACD) meeting of 2023 on January 5. The current goal of Ethereum developers is to launch a public testnet for the Shanghai/Capella upgrade in early February, and to launch the Shanghai upgrade mainnet sometime in March 2023.
The developers agreed to remove code changes related to the EOF implementation from the Shanghai upgrade, and also agreed to reject any other Ethereum Improvement Proposal (EIP) from the Shanghai upgrade to replace the EOF EIP, mainly to ensure that the timeline for staked ETH withdrawals is not delayed. As the only major code change for the Shanghai upgrade, staked ETH withdrawals are being tested on a developer-centric test network. In addition, the developers agreed to focus the Cancun upgrade after the Shanghai upgrade on EIP-4844. As previously reported, Evan Van Ness, founder of Ethereum Newsweek, tweeted that the Ethereum staking withdrawal Devnet testnet was launched recently. The relevant withdrawal function is coming soon, possibly at the end of the first quarter of next year. Ethereum Foundation member parithosh commented, "We will soon have a more public testnet for everyone to withdraw." (Planet Daily)
