Cronje pointed out that the basic operational cost of a somewhat successful L2 or application chain is approximately $13.2 million, which includes services such as oracles, stablecoins, RPC, indexing, etc.

Cronje further disclosed the detailed expenditures of Sonic over the past year: R&D investment of $10.9 million, ecosystem development of $10.7 million, legal affairs of $4.1 million, compliance costs of $3.8 million, and infrastructure of $2.4 million. Other expenses, including marketing, bounty programs, sponsorships, and regulation, totaled $35.6 million.
