PANews reported on October 21 that Rune Christensen, founder of Sky (formerly MakerDAO), stated on the X platform that two weeks after the launch of USDS, the total supply exceeded 1 billion; most of the demand for USDS comes from new users, while the supply of DAI remains stable at 4.7 billion; since the launch of USDS, the total inflow of USDS and DAI has increased by approximately 700 million. In addition, Christensen noted that aside from renaming 1 MKR to 24,000 SKY, many people are confused about the use of the Sky token and have raised questions about the introduction of token issuance. Furthermore, naming the protocol, token, and front end all as Sky undoubtedly adds some confusion. It is now clearer than ever that the DeFi community is filled with love and trust for the Maker brand. Many people have a strong sense of identification with the brand and what it represents—stability, security, and DeFi scale—and many have expressed a willingness to hold MKR tokens rather than upgrade to Sky. In response to community feedback, Christensen proposed a series of governance proposals regarding the fate of the Maker brand, MKR token economics, and the role of Sky.

The first idea to consider is: to create independent and distinct roles for Maker and Sky, reshaping the Maker brand. According to its description, if this proposal is approved, Maker will be defined as a decentralized protocol driving the USDS, DAI, and StarDAOs ecosystem; Maker's sole governance token is MKR; depending on the community's needs, the Maker brand can either be revitalized to adapt to a new era or maintain its classic appearance. Sky will be defined as focusing on meeting the needs of DeFi end users, becoming the best and most convenient platform for saving and earning returns, thanks to Maker's unique features and products; unlike Spark, which focuses on backend collateral management and more professional users, Sky focuses on the front end and demand side of USDS, ensuring that Maker now has two complementary front ends. If this proposal is approved, USDS will remain unchanged and continue to be supported by Maker and MKR governance. Initially, an Atlas Edit proposal will be developed based on community feedback, containing several different options for voters to choose from. Currently, several options include: 1. Continue with Sky as the core brand; 2. Reposition the Maker brand with its original brand identity; 3. Reposition the Maker brand with a revitalized brand identity.
