According to ChainCatcher, as of July 2024, the number of personal wallets using e-CNY, the digital currency (CBDC) of China, has reached 180 million, with a transaction volume of more than 7.3 trillion yuan (about 1.02 trillion US dollars).

According to Mu Changchun, director of the Digital Currency Research Institute of the People's Bank of China, the digital RMB operates through account mode and value mode, supports smart payment, and can be used in an environment without network or electricity, showing strong adaptability and flexibility.
