Golden Finance reported that FOX Business has learned that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission still firmly believes that the cryptocurrency XRP is a security. The news was revealed after the cryptocurrency derivatives exchange Bitnomial filed a lawsuit late Thursday, suing Wall Street's top regulator for claiming that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has jurisdiction over a planned futures contract that tracks the price of XRP, the seventh-largest digital asset by market value. Bitnomial, which is regulated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, a sister agency of the SEC, self-certified the XRP dollar futures contract in August after the SEC's lawsuit against blockchain payment company Ripple ended, and a federal judge rejected the SEC's claim that XRP is a security.
