Wu said that according to News.bitcoin, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Ohio announced on Friday that the United States has filed a civil forfeiture complaint seeking the confiscation of 200,000 USDT. The action stems from an incident in February 2024, when $340,000 worth of Bitcoin was fraudulently transferred from the wallets of Ohio victims. The transferred Bitcoin was converted into USDT by scammers. Investigators used blockchain technology to track the stolen funds and then froze the tokens. In July, a federal confiscation order resulted in the transfer of the tokens to a virtual wallet controlled by law enforcement. If the confiscation is successful, the tokens will be returned to the victims in Ohio.
