Satoshi Nakamoto is the pseudonymous person or group credited with creating Bitcoin, the first decentralized cryptocurrency. Nakamoto authored the Bitcoin white paper, which was published in 2008, and developed the original Bitcoin software, which was released in 200912.
Despite extensive speculation, Nakamoto’s true identity remains unknown. They were active in the Bitcoin community until 2010, after which they handed over control of the Bitcoin source code and network alert key to other developers12.
